Description:
This is a vintage / antique pair of 1949 Trifari clip on earrings. I could not find the patent for the earrings but the patent that was eventually granted for the matching brooch was patent # 155,214 granted to Alfred Philippe for Trifari, Krussman & Fishel Inc. on Sept 13, 1949 (see last photo) so they would have been made around that same time. A pair of of these "Snowflake" earrings were also shown on page 231 of Julia C Carroll's book "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202" 2nd edition. They were also featured in Trifari's 1949 Advertisement "this Christmas every woman can have the thrill of Jewels by Trifari". They are made up of baguette and small round rhinestones - all glue set into an golden toned metal. They would be great to add to your collection or to wear!
